I have reached the grand total of $25 from Google AdSense. Since, clearly, blogging is the most lucrative business ever, and we all must be swimming in dough, I could think of no better way to spend it than to give it back to you.
So, I am having my first giveaway ever for a $25 Toys R Us gift card. Comments are open as of now, and will close at 2 p.m. on Monday, December 20th when I'll pick a winner using a randomizer.
Here are the rules:
- To enter, leave a comment here telling me about your favorite childhood holiday gift.
- You can enter multiple times, by linking people to this website.
- If you tweet, FB, blog or link to this entry in any way, leave another comment here with the link to your link. Be sure to do these each separately so that you have multiple entries for multiple links, so that if you tweet it, comment once with the tweet. If you also Facebook it, comment a separate time with the Facebook link.
Okay, that's it! Good luck! And thank you for being here.
The baby cradle my Papa made for me. I was obsessed with baby dolls and I hated the plastic cradles you could buy at the store because they a) weren't good enough for my babies and b) they broke and fell apart easily. After listening to me moan about my poor babies have no where nice to sleep, he built me a wooden cradle for them to sleep in.
ReplyDeleteMarbles. I loved marbles.
ReplyDeleteOne year my dad gave my brother and me a cassette recorder. He even put a tape in it that he'd recorded already that told us about the radio shows we could create - and we used that thing until we could use it no more. Radio shows and songs and stories and...yeah. Best present ever.

I still have the cabbage patch doll my grandma gave me for Christmas when I was three. One of my first memories is walking up to the big box.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was 6 I got Kirsten from the American Girl collection + a couple outfits and her bed. We had never celebrated Christmas before that year (too broke D:) so my Mom went NUTS. BEST CHRISTMAS EVER!
ReplyDeleteI seem to remember a large Barbie accessory set. Very cool.
ReplyDeletebridgestranslation at yahoo dot com
My fave gift EVER was when I was probably 9 or maybe 10 and got "shootout at the OK Corral". I LOVED cowboys and westerns and all that. Of course, not having anyone to PLAY said game with sucked LOL
ReplyDeleteMy cabbage patch kid. His name was Jasper Bryant and was born on November 1. I still have him packed away somewhere...
ReplyDeleteI shared your link on my blog: http://phrassiemama.blogspot.com/2010/12/i-will-honor-christmas-in-my-heart-and.html
ReplyDeleteNot sure if it counts because I shared others as well. I've been meaning to do it anyway :-)
Probably the year I got a ten-speed bike. :) My brother had gotten some really big gifts and I only got a couple little things, so I was feeling sort of sad. Then my dad said "Oh...I think Santa left one more thing for Amber in the garage..." and he wheeled in my shiny new bike! :)

Christmases were so magic! My parents knew just what to wrap and what to leave open for the awe factor, but my favorite? Well my house had burned down a few months prior to my 5th Christmas and to my knowledge my beloved teddy bear (as well as my brothers) was lost with the house. However, my parents had salvaged it and gotten it cleaned and they were under the tree Christmas morning. It was the ultimate proof of magic <3.
ReplyDeleteMy fav gift was my Cabbage Kid Doll! tracietrump@yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteMy favorite was my water baby. I named her Noelle and would cry each time my Momma took her away to change out the water. (Even though it lasted like 5 minutes)

Best gift ever was the year my sister and I got home-made "cabbage patch dolls" that our neighbor made. Our parents couldn't afford the real thing, so our neighbor took it upon herself to make similar dolls. We didn't know the difference, and the dolls became fast favorites!

Congratulations on your mad earnings!
ReplyDeleteI think my favorite gift as a kid was the stable for my Breyer horses. I was one horse crazy kid! I could spend hours setting them up in the paddock, putting on their teeny, tiny real leather tack and then doing it all over again the next day.
My favorite gift was an army bear and a necklace with my name in arabic from my brother who was stationed over seas. It means so much to me this day. Even as a little girl I knew how special it was.

ReplyDeleteMine was a hot pink cassette player/radio I got for Christmas when I was 8. Man, I loved that thing. I'd wait patiently for my favorite songs to play on the radio and then press record. My friends and I would then take that music and plan out these elaborate dance routines and perform them in my backyard. Or we'd pretend we were radio hosts and record ourselves talking and introducing music. I think I may even still have some of those cassettes! Haha...Good memories :)

When I was 7, I got a record player. It was two-tone brown and was only supposed to play 45's and 33's but I made it play 72's too. I remember pulling it into the middle of the room and dancing around it while I played Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree.
ReplyDeleteLP's stopped being mass produced about 2-3 years later, but in the meantime, my mom used to buy me story books on records through Scholastic and I listened to a lot of childhood favorites on that little thing.
This was also the last present I ever got from Santa because that's the year my parents sat me down and told me the truth about him. We had a good run, Santa and I.
I still think of that record player and how much fun I had whenever I hear that song on the radio.
