Problem:
It's someone else's birthday. Not your child's. And they are happy, but also sad because, well, when can it be their birthday?
Solution:
Last year, the girls were three and I got them each a little gift for their daddy's birthday, so they didn't feel left out. But this year they are four and I don't want them to feel all entitled to presents on someone else's special day.
So, armed with my new stand and hand mixers, I had them help me make cake. From scratch. Because, you know, apparently I didn't want to do anything else with my day. But it's a fun activity, and the girls loved to help and eat everything.
Any way that you can involve your kids in what you are doing is a win, in my opinion, and birthdays are no different. Plus, we needed a bath anyway.
Happy Birthday, Daddy!
